Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 1, 2026 · mocsori
1. Overview
mocsori (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a voice journaling app. Your notes and recordings are stored on your device by default. We do not operate a user account system or cloud notebook sync at this time.
This policy explains what information the app processes, how it is used, and your choices.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Voice and text content: Spoken words converted to text, note titles, journal entries, images, and videos you add to notes.
- Organization data: Note covers, templates/styles, and backup files you create or import (.mocsori).
- Optional metadata: If enabled in the app, approximate location (city/region) may be attached to entries.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and app diagnostics: Crash reports and basic usage events via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (e.g. screens visited, feature usage, subscription events). These are not used to read your journal content.
- Subscription status: RevenueCat and Apple App Store process purchases and provide us with entitlement status (premium vs free), not your full payment card details.
- Microphone: Used only when you start recording, with your permission.
2.3 Information sent to third-party AI (optional features)
When you use AI refinement, AI-generated titles, or similar features, transcript text (and limited context such as optional metadata) may be sent to OpenAI to improve punctuation, structure, or titles.
- We do not use your content to train our own models.
- OpenAI’s handling of data is governed by OpenAI’s privacy policy applicable at the time of use.
- If no API key is configured or the feature is unavailable, refinement is skipped and processing stays on-device.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide core features (speech-to-text, note storage, templates, export, backup/restore).
- Improve reliability and fix crashes.
- Understand aggregate feature usage.
- Process and validate subscriptions.
- Send local notifications if you enable daily reminders (scheduled on your device).
We do not sell your personal information.
4. On-device storage and backup
- Notes are stored locally using an on-device database (Isar).
- Backup creates a .mocsori file that you choose where to save or share (AirDrop, Files, email, etc.). We do not automatically upload backups to our servers.
- Cloud backup & sync is not offered at this time unless explicitly stated in the app.
5. Sharing
We may share limited data with service providers that help us run the app:
| Provider | Purpose |
| Apple App Store | Subscriptions and payments |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management |
| Google Firebase | Analytics and crash reporting |
| OpenAI | Optional AI text processing |
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
6. Data retention
- On-device content remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Analytics and crash data are retained according to Firebase default retention settings.
- OpenAI: Request data retention depends on OpenAI’s API settings and policies at the time of the request.
7. Your choices
- Microphone / notifications / location: Control via iOS Settings → mocsori.
- Delete content: Delete notes or backups within the app.
- AI features: Avoid using refinement if you do not want text sent to OpenAI.
- Subscriptions: Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
8. Children
mocsori is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
If you use mocsori outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to this transfer where permitted by law.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a local-first app. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version at the same URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
